DVCC Breaks Ground on Ionia County Animal Shelter

On June 25, the Ionia County Animal Shelter held its groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its new animal shelter. The county has hired DVCC as construction manager and builder for the new 6,545 sq. ft. building to replace the current shelter located at 275 Sprague Road in Ionia.

The new shelter will be located on David Highway, just east of M-66. Providing a larger environment, the facility is expected to be complete at the end of November and will include a free-roaming room for cats, dog kennels, a dog run, and an isolation room for dogs that come to the facility due to biting. Visitors will also now be able to view the animal rooms through glass.
